Surrounded by weeping oaks, a bubbling fountain, and a beautiful courtyard, the Enzian Theater in Maitland, Florida has become more efficient in the year since they started using their POSitouch system. The faster service gives theater goers more time for holding hands, thanks to the four wireless handhelds and bar terminal, which process orders, manage the inventory and schedule staff.
The Enzian Theater is central Florida's only full-time, nonprofit alternative cinema. Founded in 1985, the dinner theater seats 250 people for 2 shows a night, and 4 shows on weekends. They serve a complete, prepared to order, menu. Kat Quast, General Manager says, “We have a different dining environment. All our quests arrive at the same time. We have to take their orders and complete their service in 1 hour, in the dark. We decided to use a POS system to speed up our food service.”
Kat explained their choice of Pinnacle and POSitouch stating, “The handhelds provided lighting for the servers in our dark environment. Because the servers don’t leave the floor, the ordering and food preparation is faster. With POSitouch, we do our inventory on the handheld, which is automatically uploaded to the back office system, eliminating the need for double entry. The inventory reports provide food cost accountability. The handhelds and bar terminal use the same screen, eliminating the need to learn 2 different systems. POSitouch, from Pinnacle, was the best system at the best price, that had all the key elements we needed.”
Kat continues, “Our installation was relatively painless. There was initial resistance from the staff, which lasted 2 weeks. Now they can’t live without it. It has lightened their work load and helped increase tips. The servers, food runners, and bar personnel are now a highly functioning unit, with less squabbling. We have instituted a tip sharing structure.”
