Founded in 1905, Columbia Restaurant, Florida's oldest restaurant, is an example of how to unite old and new, and still preserve its charming, elegant atmosphere and reputation for culinary excellence. Starting as a small corner café in Tampa's Ybor City, Columbia's 100 year anniversary celebration showcases their brand new 5000+ square feet state of the art kitchen, 2 new dining rooms, modern rest room facilities, and new wine cellars. Their fine dining restaurant, with a total of 52,000 square feet, and seating for 1700 people, makes it the world's largest Spanish restaurant. The number of locations has also expanded throughout Florida, with 6 Columbia Restaurants and 2 casual dining alternative, Cha Cha Coconuts Restaurants.
Richard Gonzmart, the President and 4th generation owner, is the winner of the National Restaurant Associations' 2005 Humitarian of the Year Award for the State of Florida. Columbia Restaurant has consistently earned a long list of awards including the “Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA) Award of Excellence” in 2005, a Golden Spoon award as “One of the Top 25 Restaurants in Florida” in 2005 from Florida Trend magazine, and Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence, 2005 & 2004.
Columbia Restaurant has been a Pinnacle customer since 1991. Richard explains, “We chose POSitouch because of its ease of operation, fast staff training, reliability, data availability and ease of changing menus. During out long-term association with POSitouch, we have see POSitouch become even more user friendly in recent releases.”
For Richard, one major benefit of POSitouch is the integrated Time and Attendance. He said, “Labor expense is the difference between making and losing money. Using POSitouch's scheduling saves us money. Our employees can't punch in early or out late without approval. The Federal Minimum Wage Compliance feature saves us thousands annually. With the daily labor analysis I can see at a glance any labor issues.”
Richard is also happy with Pinnacle support. He said, “The support we have received is very important. Pinnacle has been there for us. On a Saturday night at 7pm we can call phone support and get assistance to walk through any issue.”
