This Deli Stacks Up

Ben's New York Kosher DelicatessenCongratulations to Ben’s New York Kosher Delicatessen for the great review by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel! Food critic, John Tanasychuk awarded the deli located at The Reserve, 9942 Clint Moore Road, Boca Raton with 3 ½ stars out of 4. The big and busy, 242 seat dining room is often packed with customers enjoying everything from old-style classics such as beef-tongue Polonaise to chic veggie burgers.

Ben’s does classic sandwiches such as corned beef, pickled in house, and brisket. But the dinner selections include incredible stuffed cabbage, Hungarian goulash, chicken and beef flanken in a pot with matzo ball, noodles, kreplach, peas and carrots. There are also omelets, hot open-faced sandwiches, salads and entrees such as roast turkey, broiled chopped steak and broiled Romanian steak with sautéed onions. The daily specials are always a treat.  It’s Jewish soul food at its best. Continue reading “This Deli Stacks Up” »

Rocketown is Rocking the Youth

Rocketown FloridaRocketown Florida, a 12,000-square-foot Pompano Beach youth center, which opened in 2009, merges several outreaches: music, refreshments, fun ‘n’ games, homework help and counseling.  The mission of Rocketown is to share Christ’s love with youth through creative programs and mentoring relationships that are culturally relevant and eternally significant. Music is the real success story for Rocketown: More than 50 bands — local and national — appear every few months there.  On a recent Friday night, Rumors of Silence, a misnamed “post-hardcore” group, played, along with soloist Lindsay Jo Dydek; Blues Muse, a blues-rock group; and Edge of Reality, a fiery prog-rock band. The show drew about 100 listeners, most of them ages 13 to 18. Six bands are booked for the next show, on April 21. Continue reading “Rocketown is Rocking the Youth” »

Stop In and Enjoy the Breeze

Archie's SeabreezeIn 1966 Archie Summerlin, the “Unofficial Mayor of South Beach”,  left the rat race of Dade and Broward Counties, and got a good deal on a bar that had been in existence on Fort Pierce’s South Beach since 1947. Archie’s Seabreeze started as a military shack that served beer to soldiers stationed on South Beach.   In 1994, Patty McGee purchased Archie’s and has invested her life, heart, and soul into making Archie’s what it is today. . . a “feel at home” place where you can put your feet up, relax and enjoy an Atlantic breeze, Live Entertainment, a fresh delicious meal and a refreshing beverage.

We’re so proud of our team, from initial design by Edee Youngblood, to graphics by Rich Albright, to food and desserts and service and cocktails and prep by our enthusiastic and talented staff!” was the unsurprisingly humble and gracious message posted to their Facebook friends.
