Florida Restaurants Optimistic About Business in 2010

Restaurants in Florida are gradually climbing back from the recession and the restaurant industry is optimistic about recovery this year. South Florida restaurants, like Boca Raton-based Table 42 Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar, have seen an increase in sales in the first three months of 2010 compared to January, February and March of last year. Owner Gary Rack says he has also seen more tourists in the first quarter and that even locals are dining out more. A noticeable change is the increased quality and portion size, while prices have remained the same as a dining incentive.

The National Restaurant Association conducted a survey in February that showed restaurateurs are “increasingly optimistic about the economy and sales growth over the next six months,” (Sun Sentinel). Nationwide, restaurant industry sales are expected to increase 2.5% this year, which is an improvement compared to a decline for the past two years.

The positive outlook has resulted in new operators interested in opening restaurants in Florida this year – which is greatly helping out the hospitality industry. These new establishments range from sports bars to upscale restaurants to casual pizza places.

The trend of higher quality food for the same price also means setting a higher standard for service. Pinnacle Hospitality Systems has provided software solutions to improve services in fine dining, sports bars, nightclubs and casual dining restaurants for over twenty years. Pinnacle supplies restaurant POS systems in Florida like POSitouch and Dinerware to help hospitality businesses maximize profit, increase productivity and control expenses.
