The Best Burrito Deserves the Best POS Software for Restaurants

My Ceviche – Fresh Seafood With a Fresh POS

Does the beautiful ocean view in Miami Beach have you hungering for some fresh seafood? My Ceviche, winner of Miami New Times’ award for Best Burrito, is garnering acclaim for their superb ceviche, tacos, burritos, and salads, made to order for take-out or delivered straight to your door. The fast-casual restaurant, brain-child of chef Sam Gorenstein and George Stone Crab founder Roger Duarte, grew out of Gorenstein’s desire to bring the healthy, ultra-fresh taste of the cevicherias of his native Columbia to South Miami diners.

My Ceviche offers six diverse styles of ceviche, including Aji Amarillo, a Peruvian style with a little bit of ginger, lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice; heavenly Crema de Rocotto, which is also Peruvian, with rocotto peppers in a creamy emulsion; and Caribeno, a Caribbean style from Gorenstein’s hometown. Stop Punching! A Restaurant Software System With a Card Less Loyalty Program

How is your loyalty program?  Are you still offering paper punch cards?  Paper punch cards still make up a significant portion of the means by which restaurateurs reward customer patronage.  Paper punch cards provide no accurate way of tracking customers – you only know when someone held on to the card long enough and remembered enough times to actually earn the reward.

Magnetic strip cards provide significantly better tracking of customer behavior, the customer needs to carry it and remember to use it.  Customers either forget to bring them in or hold up your lines while searching through their purses looking for the little card so you can stamp it, punch it or swipe it. Pop-ups Need a Mobile POS System

Pop-up restaurants are the newest trend hitting the hospitality industry. Restaurants in foodie cities are putting to use at least one night a month to either host a pop-up restaurant of their own, or open their doors to emerging chefs who as yet have no restaurant. Many restaurants are closed on Sundays and Mondays, traditionally the slowest days of the week for dining out.  Pop-ups offer restaurants an opportunity make a small amount of money while supporting up-and-coming chefs and gaining publicity with minimal effort on the owner’s part.

“Pop-ups offer an opportunity for line cooks and sous chefs to rent restaurant space to run a once-a-week pop-up, or it’s the chefs getting playful in their own restaurants — looking to street or comfort food that you wouldn’t find on typical menus,” explains Melissa Abbott, director of culinary insights at the Bellevue, Washington-based consumer consulting company The Hartman Group. Wanted Ethnic Offerings with a Great Restaurant Software System

Finally fulfilling your dream and opening a restaurant? Keep in mind that only 23% of consumers are satisfied with ethnic offerings that are available.  Chain restaurants are not meeting the current consumer demand for new foods and flavors. Only a quarter of consumers polled for a recent Technomic survey say they are satisfied with the availability of ethnic offerings at limited-service (23 percent) and full-service (28 percent) chains, which translates into opportunities for operators to differentiate their menus and gain market share with globally inspired offerings.

“Authenticity is crucial to the ethnic food and beverage purchasing decision” says Technomic’s Executive Vice President Darren Tristano. Continue reading “Wanted Ethnic Offerings with a Great Restaurant Software System” »
